Defeated Candidate Given State Post

SACRAMENTO — A Southern California real estate broker, Richard E. Longshore, who fell only a few votes short in a high-stakes central Orange County Assembly race last year, has been named by Gov. George Deukmejian to the California Veterans Board.
The 59-year-old Anaheim resident lost to Assemblyman Richard Robinson (D-Garden Grove) by 256 votes in one of California’s most expensive Assembly campaigns of the year. The two spent a total of $1.1 million in the race.
