The landing gear of a small airplane collapsed as it hit the runway at Van Nuys Airport Friday, causing the craft to “slide in on its belly” for several hundred feet, an airport official said. There were no injuries.
The Cessna 182 landed about 11:10 a.m. with three people on board, Airport Police Officer Milton Cox said. The three were on a pleasure flight and had been in the air about an hour, Cox said. Airport workers towed the plane off the runway after it came to a stop, he said.
No damage estimate was available.
