Forgery Suspects Flunk Spelling

Two men were arrested today in Pacific Palisades and charged with passing counterfeit cashier’s checks after a gold coin seller was unable to cash a $32,800 check, police said.
Gregory Davis Werber , 22, and Jeffrey James Fitch, 33, both of Los Angeles, were taken into custody in a raid during which authorities also seized approximately 500 counterfeit cashier’s checks, credit cards, embossing equipment, manufacturing equipment, forgery paraphernalia and cocaine. Police bunco forgery officers said the suspects made one mistake: They misspelled the word ‘cashier’ on the cashier’s checks, dropping the “i.”
