Assembly Rejects Toxics Plan

SACRAMENTO — The Assembly rejected Republican Gov. George Deukmejian’s toxics reorganization plan on a 46-31 vote today after Democratic Assembly Speaker Willie Brown called it “honest, but terribly flawed.”
Either house of the Legislature has authority to kill the governor’s reorganization proposal. (Committee’s vote, Page 3.)
