Writer Quits Protest Fast

BUCHAREST, Romania — Dorin Tudoran, a leading Romanian poet and writer, has called off a hunger strike that he began in April over the Communist authorities’ refusal to allow him to emigrate, according to Western sources in Bucharest. A Western resident in the Romanian capital who spoke to him early this month said Tudoran, 39, ended his fast on June 3 after developing an illness linked to vitamin deficiency.
