Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 33-year-old parolee and his wife in connection with the April 22 shooting death of William Eugene Williams of Palmdale. Deputies in Palmdale spotted Daniel Ruiz, who was disguised as a woman and wearing a wig and long fingernails, getting into a car driven by his wife, Cheryl Stephens, 22. The pair were taken to the Antelope Valley sheriff’s station where Ruiz, convicted in 1978 of second-degree murder in an unrelated death, was booked on suspicion of killing Williams during a dispute over a $500 stereo.
