ATHENS — A villager, enraged by an offhand remark, shot and killed six people he was drinking with in a local tavern before police arrested him, a police spokesman said Saturday.
Pantelis Bizonis, 50, a native of Vigla on Greece’s northwestern coast, was intoxicated and said he remembered nothing about the shootings after his arrest, the spokesman said.
After the unreported remark, Bizonis went home for a shotgun and returned to the tavern, killing three fellow villagers and wounding one before he was subdued by bystanders, police said.
He went home again and returned with another gun and fatally shot three more patrons before he was arrested, police said.
