Sports DIGEST : Yerina Aims for 1,000-Point Club

Pat Yerina of Thousand Oaks finished the season at Fairfield (Conn.) University with 245 points, an average of 8.8 per game. The former Crespi High standout also grabbed 133 rebounds, third best on the 11-17 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference team.
Yerina, who had started 73 straight games before having the streak stopped in February, played a total of 682 minutes and was successful on 48.6% of his field-goal attempts. He was 43 of 64 from the foul line.
The junior forward ended the season with a total of 784 career points, and said he hopes to become Fairfield’s 20th career 1,000-point scorer next season.
