Western Union offered long-distance credits.

Under the new discount program, the company’s Telex and EasyLink electronic-mail customers can apply a credit of 20% of their monthly bills to their Wester Union Long Distance Services bill, up to $1,000 a month. The 20% joint-service discount, which cannot exceed the actual long-distance bill, is applied to the next month’s long-distance charges.
