A former teacher at Channel Islands High School in Oxnard was acquitted of charges that he had an illegal sexual relationship with a girl student who was a minor. The student, a former homecoming queen who is now 21 years old, said that during an affair that began when she was 16, she and history teacher Richard Cronin engaged in sex at motels and in the homes of other students. Cronin, 32, admitted the affair but said it began when the student was 18.
