ATLANTA — A U.S. Postal Service worker pulled a gun today and opened fire in a work area at the main Atlanta post office, killing one person and injuring two others, one critically, police said.
The man was taken into custody immediately after the incident, which lasted less than five minutes, police Lt. B. L. Niekirk said. He said there was “some exchange of words” between the employees involved before the shootings. The identities of the gunman and the dead and wounded were not immediately available.
