Two major insurers ended Kharg Island coverage.

Hellenic Mutual War Risk Assn. and United Kingdom Mutual War Risks Assn., which insure the majority of Greek and British vessels, said they withdrew coverage for Kharg Island, Iran’s key crude oil loading port, because of increased attacks on shipping in the area. The Hellenic group, a Greek firm, said it will cover tankers loading at Sirri Island, an Iranian port being used through a shuttle service from Kharg Island. The Hellenic group said it also will assist shippers in securing coverage for journeys to Kharg Island from the Lloyds of London insurance market.
