CSUN Signs Up 18 Football Recruits

Cal State Northridge has released a list of 18 recruits who have accepted football scholarships by signing national letters of intent.
Dwayne Decker and Gary Vartanian, a pair of key players on Pierce College’s Southern California Conference championship team, led a list of 15 community college transfers to accept scholarship offers.
Decker (6-3, 240) was a starter at center for the Brahmas, while Vartanian took care of place-kicking duties.
Other community college recruits who have signed:
Don Tucker, offensive tackle, 6-8, 280, Orange Coast; Jeff Haynes, offensive guard, 6-3, 250, Bakersfield; Joe Castelao, offensive guard, 6-0, 255, Harbor; Shelton Tobin, tight end, 6-3, 210, Ventura; Ken Garrett, wide receiver, 5-10, 165, Chabot; Warren Burleson, wide receiver, 6-2, 175, Ventura; John Stockton, wide receiver, 6-0, 160, Fresno City; Danny Fernandez, quarterback, 5-11, 170, Chabot; Chris Parker, quarterback, 6-0, 180, San Bernardino Valley; Matt Michel, quarterback, 5-10, 170, Ventura; Trent Morgan, kicker, 5-10, 170, Harbor; Reggie Wauls, linebacker, 6-0, 210, West L.A.; Mike Ledford, defensive line, 6-0, 260 Glendale.
Northridge also signed three high school players. They were: Gared Hjelmstad, linebacker, 6-0, 200, Los Alamitos; Matt Dailey, defensive line, 6-2, 220, Glendora; Chris Fulsom, quarterback, 6-2, 190, Rubidoux.
Northridge finished with a 3-7 record last season.
In other signings, Demetrius Burton of Valley College, 5-11, 170 wide receiver, signed with Iowa State. Paul Sper, a defensive lineman, 6-5, 215, and Bryan Howard, offensive tackle, 6-5, 250, both from Pierce JC, signed with Kansas.
