4 Gunmen Seize Jet, Surrender

BEIRUT — Four gunmen seized a Cypriot jetliner at Beirut airport today and held nine crew members hostage for five hours before surrendering under an agreement with authorities in Cyprus, Lebanese officials said.
Mourabitoun radio of Lebanon’s Sunni Muslim community said the ordeal ended when the four Shia Muslim gunmen climbed down from the plane, leaving their nine hostages. The four had demanded that Cyprus release two convicted hijackers.
