Prep Basketball GIRLS : Palisades 48, Birmingham 42

Palisades High came back from a 17-0 deficit, including a shutout in the first quarter, to beat Birmingham. The Valley 3-A game put both team’s records at 2-3. Overall, Palisades is 6-8 while Birmingham is 4-5.
Birmingham led, 13-0, at the end of the first period and increased it early in the second period before Palisades scored. It was still 28-15, Birmingham, at the half.
However, 6-1 junior center Stacy Washington led Palisades in the third period to as 17-8 advantage and narrowed the margin to 36-32 by the end of the third period. Then Palisades put on on a tight half-trap defense in the fourth quarter to outscore Birmingham, 16-6, and rally to win.
Washington finished with 28 points with Monica Goldston chipping in with eight. Birmingham’s high scorer was Lattin Shaggard with 18 points.
