Offices to Close to Mark King Birthday
State offices in Orange County will be closed today in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. In addition, no classes will be held at UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton.
County offices will remain open, but courtrooms will be closed because judges are state employees. Federal offices, like most banks and retail stores, will remain open.
Beginning next year, Congress has designated the third Monday in January as a national holiday commemorating the birthday of the slain civil rights leader, who was born Jan. 15, 1929.
