Old Dominion Defeats UCLA

Top-ranked Old Dominion opened the game with 10 straight points Friday night on its way to ending UCLA’s five-game winning streak, 74-58, in a women’s basketball game at Norfolk, Va.
All-American Medina Dixon keyed the Lady Monarchs fast start with 16 first-half points on her way to a total of 24. After the opening spurt, the Bruins could never get closer than eight points, and Old Dominion (12-0) built its lead to as much as 22 points with 7:16 left in the game.
Jackie Joyner led UCLA (8-3) with 19 points on 9 of 13 shooting.
Old Dominion has won 42 consecutive home games. The Monarchs will play Cal State Long Beach Monday night at Norfolk.
