A four-run fifth inning has given San Pedro a 7-5 lead over El Camino Real in the City Section Division I final.
San Pedro knocked out El Camino Real starter Mitch Bluman. After Jacob Johnson’s RBI single, the Pirates’ ninth hit of the game, Coach Josh Lienhard brought in Frank Vidak to pitch.
Vidak struck out Bubba Costa, but then Danny Matienzo hit a pop fly that Bluman, playing first base, lost in the sun. Then Bluman threw wildly to home, and two runners scored. Nate Etheridge added his second RBI single of the game.
San Pedro has outhit the Conquistadores, 11-3.
The big question is can El Camino Real come back and when will All-City pitcher Jose Cardona, who has two innnngs available, be brought in?
