Baseball: Arleta knocks off Poly in East Valley League

Javy Lopez threw a five-hitter, striking out eight, to help Arleta (12-3, 3-0) take over sole possession of first place in the East Valley League with a 4-0 victory over Sun Valley Poly.
Lopez improved to 5-0. Manny Guzman had a two-run single.
In the West Valley League, All-City pitcher Jose Cardona of El Camino Real was in complete control, striking out 10, walking one and allowing three hits in six innings of the Conquistadores’ 9-0 victory over Woodland Hills Taft. Mitch Bluman, Kyle Keppel and Paul Hons hit home runs for El Camino Real (5-8, 1-0).
Bryce Kelly scattered six hits and struck out nine to lead Granada Hills past Cleveland, 5-1.
The Chatsworth-Birmingham game was suspended in the first inning because of a swarm of bees. It will be continued on Wednesday at Chatsworth.Take a look at the bees below.
In the Valley Mission League, San Fernando defeated Sylmar, 1-0, with David Armas throwing a two-hitter.
