A broken wing and a prayer

I’m impressed with this Marina sideline. No really. Maybe it’s the 40 or so cheerleaders and the decked-out band, but the crowd, the players, even the important-looking folks with walkie-talkies are yelling encouragement.....and Colton is winning, 32-0, midway through the opening quarter.
It got real quiet as I was writing this entry and I noticed a Marina player was down on his knees with an apparent broken collarbone, according to the walkie-talkie jabber. I guess they’re calling the paramedics.
It’s a full moon and a black rabbit, yes a rabbit, ran across the field earlier.
‘The paramedics are here,’ I hear over a walkie-talkie.
‘They went the wrong way,’ another said.
‘I didn’t know there was a gate over there,’ said a third.
Finally, the flashing lights are here.
