Golden Globes: ‘Carlos’ confounds the press room

It may be the art-house darling of 2010, but most of the press room was a little thrown by ‘Carlos’ and the nervous energy of director Olivier Assayas when he came backstage.

It was a safe bet that most of the people in the room hadn’t seen the 5½-hour epic portrait of notorious political terrorist Carlos the Jackal, which meant it could have been a very short session. [Updated: an earlier version of this post incorrectly referred to Carlos the Jackal as a drug kingpin.]

Fortunately, someone asked a question in German to break the ice. Unfortunately, it seemed to last as long as the movie itself.
